About Us

In 1953, the late Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht founded Toys for Hospitalized Children with the dream of bringing joy and comfort to children everywhere.

After more than fifty years of serving 88 institutions in New York, Connecticut & New Jersey, Toys for Hospitalized Children has added some of the nation's best Children's Hospitals - facilities in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio & Texas which serve thousands of the most seriously ill children!

Through this brilliantly simple program, the outlook and perspective of these children changes dramatically as they realize that others care about them and are hoping for their speedy recovery.

Mrs. Goldstein, a volunteer from Ann Arbor Michigan, visited the Motts Children's Hospital and told us the following:

"…a nurse from another floor asked for one of the Hello Kitty activity books for one of her patients. Towards the end of our stay the nurse called down to our floor to say that this little girl was so happy with her gift that she grabbed the marker and started coloring.. Everyone was floored! She had injured her right arm and, until then, hadn't been responding to physical therapy…!"

Help us continue Rabbi Hecht's legacy and become a partner in our inspiring work.
